Mount Kenya Climb Sirimon route out Sirimon 4 Days 3 nights
At 5199m high, it is Africa's second highest mountain, with gleaming and eroded snow-capped peaks, which can be seen for miles. It is a broad, large symmetrical volcano cone whose diameter at the base is about 12 km, dating between 2 to 3 million years ago. There are three peaks; Mbatian, , Nelion and point Lenana. The magnificent views over the surrounding country from point Lenana and other high points around the main peaks and trekking on this mountain is a priority among tourists. The forest surrounding the mountain support a large variety of wildlife such as elephant, buffalo, monkey, antelope, lion, zebra, eland, rock hyrax, giant forest hogs, leopard and various species of birds such as eagle, vulture, and sunbird among others.

Gaiters: To keep mud, rocks, and snow out of your boots.
Water purification: This is essential as water for drinking is taken directly from mountain streams.
Hiking Boots: This is the most important item on the list. You'll need a comfortable/waterproof pair of hiking boots which offer plenty of support. Make sure they are broken in before you get to Mt. Kenya!

Personal Items & Toiletries:
US $ Travelers cheques, toothpaste & tooth brush, body lotion, toilet paper and other personal hygiene items. (Ladies, please carry some sanitary toiletries as being at high altitude may alter your cycle).
Photographic (optional):
1 camera (plus spare batteries),film & tripod stand,different lenses,
1 pair of binoculars,video camera,video tapes, battery packs.
Miscellaneous (Optional):
notebook, pencil, sketchbook, masking tape, zip loc plastic bags, ear plugs, address list for post cards, map of Kilimanjaro (the trip leader will have one).
HEALTH:
Yellow Fever: This is compulsory and a certificate might be requested on arrival at the airport. Please make sure that you have the shot in time.
Malaria: There are various types of medicine on the market today used for prevention and treatment of malaria. We recommend that you consult your doctor on which prophylactics to take.
Water purification tablets:
On the mountain, we use water from the streams. Although drinking water will be boiled first, it is advisable to add a tablet or two - to be on the safe side.
Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS):
This is a condition commonly experienced at high altitude. In most cases, this can be avoided by following guidelines on hiking pace, eating, resting and fluid intake. We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the various affects that altitude can cause.
(Please consult your doctor on use of Diamox - tablets used by some mountaineers to help them cope with the effects of altitude).
Personal medical supplies (optional): As your tour leaders, we will carry a group medical kit.
Some items that you might want to carry would include; aspirin, imodium, laxatives, antibiotics, bandages, malaria tablets, gauze, adhesives, betadine, throat lozenges, eye drops, sun block, lip balm, moleskin antihistamine tablets and cream .

Your Itinerary
DAY I: Departure from Nairobi is at 0900 hrs (either from hotel or airport) to Nanyuki ,and stop at the Equator briefly. Continue to Nanyuki where you check in your hotel.
Afternoon is spend preparing for the hike.A COMPLIMENTARY walking tour to the EQUATOR. Dinner and overnight at the Nanyuki simbas lodge.
DAY 2:After breakfast transfer to Sirimon gate and hike to Old Moses camp for overnight (3300m), 3 to 4 hrs hikes (9kms). Old Moses is where you acclimatize as you also come across different vegetation.
DAY 3: After breakfast Hike to Shipton's camp (4200m )through Liki and Makinders valley for overnight (6 to 8 hrs hikes) 17 kms.
DAY 4:Attempt point Lenana (4985m) at 0300 hrs and descend directly to Old Moses (Judmair) Camp for overnight
Day 5: After breakfast descend to Sirimon Park Gate to catch your vehicle to your next destination
MOUNT KENYA TREK NAROMORU ROUTE 5 DAYS

Naro Moru route is the quickest way to the base of the mountain and Pt. Lenana. It is also one of the steepest routes and extra care should be taken here to avoid problems with AMS. Walking up towards Mackinders Camp through the Teleki Valley offers superb views of the peaks of Batian and Nelion. A steep section known as the "vertical bog" is crossed around midwau to Mackinders Hut and a stopover here is almost compulsory. The accomodations are good with bunkhouses at Met Station and Mackinder's Camp.

Itinerary
DAY 1: NARO MORU
Depart from Nairobi at 09:00hrs and proceed South towards the cool slopes of Mt. Kenya. Cross the Equator and arrive at Nanyuki Simbas / Lodge in time for Lunch. Relax and Enjoy magnificent scenery of Mt Kenya region.A COMPLIMENTARY walking tour to the EQUATOR.Ovenight at Simbas Lodge
DAY 2: MET.CAMP SITE
Early morning photo taking Mt kenya when its clear then after breakfast, Drive to the gate then walk to the Meteorological Station. This is a very good day for acclimatization, for we will be sleeping at an altitude of 10,000 ft 9 kms 3-4 hours walk
DAY 3: MACKINDER'S CAMP SITE
Hike up through the Teleki valley to Mackinders Camp where there is a spectacular view of the main peaks. Walking time approximately 4-6 hours. Overnight Mackinders Camp. (14,000 ft.) 9kms 4-5 hours walk
DAY 4: MACKINDER'S CAMP SITE
A pre- dawn attempt of point Lenana is made to ensure a successful summit bid and to try to reach the summit in time for a clear view of the majestic scenery. After climbing Pt. Lenana we return back to Mackinders camp for breakfast and then proceed down to Met Station Lodge for overnigh.9 kms 3 to 4 hours walk
DAY 5: NAIROBI
After breakfast at Met station walk down to Park Gate to catch your transport back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon
